  This is a welcoming space to connect with others, practice or learn new techniques, and explore new kinks in a place where you can be comfortable being you.

  Studio Friction Advanced Rope Intensive:

  The Tying’s On The Wall

  Description:
  
  This class is intended for advanced rope tops and bottoms with prior dynamic suspension experience who are interested in exploring wall suspensions.

  Class will start with a breakdown of the hardware involved in wall suspensions, the process of transitioning from a single point suspension to the wall and back, and the unique risks associated with wall suspensions. Students will then participate in an exercise making multiple transitions to and from the wall before taking a 30 minute break. After the break, students will learn a short suspension sequence which they will attempt to replicate using the harnesses of their choice.

  All students will be expected to have suspension experience and riggers expected to have experience in basic up-line management and transition experience. Participants should come prepared to tie a solid, sustainable chest harness and a hip harness. As always, everyone is welcome to participate up to their own comfort level or just observe portions of the class that are beyond their current skill set.
  

  Riggers will need a full rope kit (including uplines), safety shears, rigging plate/gear, and 6+ carabiners.

  In this class we will cover:

  • Wall specific risks and limitations such as bi directional compression and wall abrasion 
  • Brief review of consent and negotiation specific to this activity and partner check ins
  • Discussion on the pros and cons of different chest harnesses for wall rope as well as the limitations of the wall
  • Setting up your wall points & gear
  • Transitioning to the wall and back
  • A sequence, variety of shapes, and transitions on the wall

  Due to limited wall space this class will be limited to 7 tying pairs. Some tying pairs will be double up to take turns transitioning on the wall and spotting each other as space allows with 5 wall point stations. 

  About our instructors:

  SirTolerance (he/him)
  

  SirTolerance joined the rope community and Studio Friction in late 2023. Initially enamored with the technicality of Shibari, he quickly fell in love with the intimacy that rope allows. SirTolerance enjoys sadistic, dynamic suspension that challenges bottoms and brings connection with whomever he is tying. When he is at Studio, you can find him tying on the wall with a foot taco or two. He is passionate about making rope accessible for everyone and is adaptable in his rope to suit the needs of the person in his rope.

  MoodyTempest (she/her)
  

  MoodyTempest (Insta: moody.tempest, Fet: MoodyTempest) has been bottoming in rope since 2020 and joined the Studio Friction community shortly after moving to Denver in 2023. She is a lover of deep backbends, mean waist rope, and upside down time. MoodyTempest is passionate about empowering rope bottoms through education and giving them the tools to understand and advocate for their unique needs in rope. She is proudly queer, neurodivergent, and community oriented.

  On the second Saturday of each month, self-tying and self-suspending enthusiasts are encouraged to take over the main floor of Studio Friction! Self-suspenders are encouraged to bring a partner or friend as a spotter though this is not required. Group spotters will be available throughout the event. Beginners are welcome. Skill sharing among attendees is encouraged, but not required.

  All other types of rope folx are welcome and encouraged to come as well and tie upstairs or in the champagne room. It's a night for all folk to practice and enjoy rope together.

  Studio Friction's Self-Tying Rope Bondage Series:

  Self Tying 3:

  Transitions & Dynamic Self-Suspensions

  with Marilyn and Kennedy

  This self-tying rope bondage class is for those who have some experience self-suspending already and want to take their practice to the next level. This course is the third of a three-part self-tying/suspension series that will take you from never having touched rope before to dynamic self-suspension in the air within 12 weeks. The focus of this course will be transitions and dynamic self-suspensions.

  In this class, you will learn:

  • Side self-suspensions
  • Futomomo self-suspensions
  • Transitions in self-suspensions
  • Dynamic movements in self-suspensions

  This class is for those who have completed the Self Tying 2 course. Students may test into the Self-Tying 3 course if they can show proficiency in tying a suspendable chest harness, hip harness, and load line management. Please contact office@studiofriction.com after registering if you need to test into the course.

  • When: Aug. 11th, 18th, 25, Sep. 8th (note that August 1st is skipped due to the holiday).

  Marilyn first entered the Denver rope community in 2019. After finishing the partnered curriculum in March 2020 (literally the Wednesday before Denver shut down!), Marilyn began self-tying as a way to maintain her rope skills. She quickly fell in love with the playful, energetic, and dynamic nature of it! She is happy to be back in Denver and to be exploring all that rope has to offer again, whether that's tying others, tying herself, or letting others tie her sometimes too.

  Marilyn identifies as a queer, polyamorous, kinky switch. She's passionate about relationship anarchy, arguing the semantics of language, and the value of building connections. She's excited to be engaging with the Denver rope community in a new, bigger way through teaching and curriculum development.

  Kennedy Be Mine – (they/them, she/her)

  Kennedy is queer, kinky and an avid self-suspender! Kennedy took her first rope class at studio friction in 2022 and has been tying ever since. They especially enjoy blending nerdy cosplay with shibari and loves the way rope can make every, body feel amazing.

  Miscommunication is everywhere: in our relationships, our workplaces, our play, and even in the way we try to listen. Come join Pleasure Seekers for an engaging and insightful presentation from a professional people-watcher and lifelong communicator and a trauma and sex therapist as we explore why communication goes wrong, how to recognize the signs before it blows up, and what you can actually do to course-correct.
  We’ll dig into the unspoken scripts, body language cues, emotional misfires, and the classic traps we all fall into (yes, even the really smart and self-aware ones). You’ll walk away with practical tools, a deeper understanding of your own patterns, and maybe even a laugh or two about the weird things humans do when they try to connect.
  There will be time for Q&A, real-world examples, and optional audience participation. Whether you're a seasoned communicator or just trying not to panic-text your partner, there’s something here for you. Bring your curiosity, your questions, and that one example you still replay in the shower. We’ve got you.

  Thunderbunny (he/him) has been consensually non monogamous for over a decade, and a kinkster at least that long. He's a student of human behavior, including his own, and dabbles in areas related to communication and what that actually means, as well as accountability, autonomy, and why they're important enough to actually define. 

  
  

  Caroline (she/her) is a therapist in Colorado specializing in trauma therapy and sex therapy. Her specialties include working with the kink community and the ENM community, as well as sexual trauma and religious trauma. Caroline is passionate about destigmatizing the taboo, filling in the gaps, and meeting people where they are in their journey. With her clients, she incorporates humor, authenticity and nerdiness. Caroline is also an independent researcher and has ongoing research in the demographics of cuckqueans, the hinge partner in polyamory, grieving the life you're living as a cancer patient, and addressing erotic countertransference.

  Studio Friction's newest comedy show is hosted by our very own Chris Wellman. Chris is a kink & sex positive comedian who hosts both the Comedy & Kink and The Slut Down comedy shows in Denver.

  The Knotty Show is part stand-up comedy show, part rope demonstration. Colorado's goofiest comedians perform their craft alongside a couple of kinksters doing a suspension. Sometimes the comics roll with it and sometimes the comics get all blushy & bashful. Either way, hilarity ensues!

  The Next Generation (TNG) Night is back at Studio Friction! A special event for the younger folx between 19 and 35. TNG is great for those new and experienced with rope alike. It’s a safe space to try out rope for the first time while also building community among the next generation. Skill sharing is encouraged from experienced riggers. And of course, non-rope activities are allowed too.

  Schedule:

  • Doors open @ 7p
  • From 7:30-8pm there will be casual instruction on a basic knot and safety.
  • Pending the availability of experienced riggers, there may be an opportunity for rope tastings throughout the night.
  • Arrive by 8pm to allow our volunteers time to socialize/play too!

  TNG is especially good for people new to Studio Friction as it’s one of our few regular monthly events that is open to non-members.

  • When: Saturday, August 23rd 2025, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Morning session from 10-1pm. Lunch from 1-2pm. Afternoon session from 3-5pm.

  Robb has been involved in Japanese rope bondage as a student, teacher, and performer since 2013. Robb loves both tying and being tied and particularly enjoys the connection and intimacy that can be achieved through rope. Robb's tying style mixes sensuality and sadism, with a focus on creating a shared container to playfully explore vulnerability and desire.

  Snoh (she/her) 

  Snoh discovered her passion for rope bottoming in 2022, drawn to its beauty, intimacy, and the profound connections it allows. Her journey in Shibari has been transformative, teaching her more about communication, interpersonal relationships, energy exchange and a deep exploration of one's self. Beyond the ropes, Snoh cherishes the connections she forges with her partners and the kink community. She seeks to share her knowledge and passion through workshops and demonstrations, volunteering, and fostering an environment of exploration.

  Tight Lines: A kink life drawing event

  COST: Sliding scale $10/$15/$20

  Please bring your favorite drawing materials; we will be drawing the human form in an array of kinky activities. Obviously, there will be a strong focus on rope, and we will likely start there, but eventually, there will be a range of kinks represented. We will create a relaxed atmosphere to see and draw fun, sexy things. 

  If you are new to rope or kink, this will be a great low-pressure atmosphere to spend some time watching and drawing some beautiful kink. Models will pose for varying times in various kinds of positions. 

  If you don't have them, we will provide some basic materials, but certainly, bring your favorite sketchbook/tablet/easel and mark-making supplies. 

  Switchtext isn’t an art instructor, but he does have an art degree and has spent a lot of time in life drawing classes. He is happy to offer input and suggestions on your work if you would like.

  Studio Friction's newest comedy show is hosted by our very own Chris Wellman. Chris is a kink & sex positive comedian who also hosts The Knotty Show, The Slut Down, and Comedy & Kink comedy shows in Colorado.

  BARE is a body positive, full nude stand-up comedy show that has been running since 2019. Each show features some of Colorado's best comedians stripping nude all while telling jokes and baring it all on stage.

  The audience is welcome to bare it all and is permitted to be as naked as they wish once they have been checked-in inside the venue. Clothing must be "Bar Legal" and worn until you go through ticketing.

  Class Description:

  Get ready for an advanced, dynamic suspension sequence! While this is a challenging sequence there are alterations and techniques that can solve many issues tops and bottoms often face throughout the sequence. Both tops and bottoms should have experience moving through a variety of single point loads.
  
  We'll kick things off with a demo of the sequence, followed by a discussion on various harness options and alterations to help improve sustainability and safety. After some harness practice it's time for another demo to see the steps one more time before you navigate this sequence yourselves!
  

  1. Prerequisites and Equipment:

  -Suspension experience (both tops AND bottoms INCLUDING TRANSITIONS)

  -Suspension gear (e.g. ring, rigging plate, carabiners, rope kit, etc.)

  -Cutting tool

  -3 to 4 synthetic load lines are recommended.

  -Carabiners or rings to use at the harness are recommended

We will be teaching a single column tie and one other beginner skill. Some loaner rope is available, and there is rope available for purchase as well. Curious what to wear if it’s your first time?   • From 7:30-8pm there will be casual instruction on a basic knot and safety.
  • Pending the availability of experienced riggers, there may be an opportunity for rope tastings throughout the night.
  • Arrive by 8pm to allow our volunteers time to socialize/play too!

  TNG is especially good for people new to Studio Friction as it’s one of our few regular monthly events that is open to non-members.

  Important Event Information

  • This event is restricted to kinksters 35 years of age or younger. Older attendees in good standing are allowed to attend as an accompanied guest with their TNG-aged partner. Folx over 35 years of age will be required to arrive and leave with their TNG partner.
  • Attendees must arrive by 8pm to allow our check-in/manager volunteers time to socialize/play too!
  • Registration & payment required in advance.
  • Bring a photo ID that matches the Last Name listed in your online registration for admittance.
  • No refunds or credits on cancellations within 24 hours of event (contact office@studiofriction.com with extenuating circumstances)
  • You must be at least 19 years old to attend events at Studio Friction.
  • Service animals are welcome but pets and emotional support animals must be left at home. See our Pet Policy for more information.
